David Saxby, President of Spark Communications Inc. is an international speaker
and trainer and a sales and marketing consultant with over 30 years experience.
David's first company grew from one man to a full service advertising agency
in less than two years. He followed that success with a company he nurtured
through a major recession and grew into one of Western Canada's leading marketing
communication firms.
David delivers thought-provoking and inspiring presentations that provide
insight into how individuals, teams and organizations can ignite innovation
and achieve unparalleled success in their marketplace. He combines hard-learned
lessons from his experiences in the marketing and advertising world with his
deep knowledge-base as a visionary business leader.
David knows how to connect with audiences. He inspires, motivates and challenges
people to look beyond the status quo and to seek answers outside their comfort
zones.
As a consultant David facilitates the innovation process by helping clients
discover their unique talents and business value. He shows them how to find

of industries including: beverage and liquor, communications, land development,
real estate and construction, media and marketing, education, professional

Achievements:
David Saxby, ATM, is a Past-President of one of the largest Toastmasters Clubs
in Calgary, a former Board Member of the Calgary Chapter of IABC (the International
Associations of Business Communicators) and Past Chair of Small Business Week
for the Calgary Chamber of Commerce.
David was a driving force in the formation of two professional associations.
He was the founder and Past-President of the western chapter of CAPIC (the
Canadian Association of Photographers and Illustrators in Communication).
He was also a founding Board Member and Past-President of the Calgary Chapter
of CAPS and a Past National Director of CAPS (the Canadian Association of
Professional Speakers).
David is the co-author of two books:

Communications Inc. History
The story of
Spark Communications is about a tiny flicker of an idea that became the growth
of innovative marketing success.
The flame was ignited in 1979 when David Saxby opened a one man creative studio
in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He attributes his success today on his ability
to look at opportunities in adversity that no one else could see.
In marketing as in life, timing is everything. Opening the doors to his new
business as a recession was snuffing out traditional avenues to new business
growth, could have been the death of his new enterprise. Instead, what others
perceived to be ‘bad-timing’ lit the spark of innovation that
burned within him. Rather than turn out the lights, David looked for opportunities
in new markets where his unique approach to marketing would make a difference.
As other agencies were cutting back and shutting their doors, David’s
creative spirit and entrepreneurial acumen inspired him to delve into this
emerging market and set the scene for growth.
In 1985 when the regulations governing professional practice marketing and
advertising changed, David took action. He created a strategic alliance providing
a suite of marketing services (Marketing Strategy, Public and Media Relations,
Government Relations, Advertising, Direct Marketing and a full in house Graphic
Design department) for the professional services market (lawyers, accountants,
and medical). He helped pioneer ‘fee for services’ billing in
his industry to quickly capture significant market share. The focus of this
strategic alliance resulted in what today is known as Integrated Marketing.
In less than 3 years, David’s spark of an idea, grew from a 6 person
operation to 23 people with over a $1 million in revenue – which in
those recessionary times was remarkable growth.
Subsequently, David sold the partnership and moved to Calgary, Alberta where
he established Spark Communications Inc..
Spark Communications set the Calgary marketing scene alight. Its focus on
providing keynote presentations and seminars on innovation, sales and marketing
and presentation design and delivery continues to expand the reach of the
scope that David began to light in 1979 – there is a need for innovative
approaches to marketing and sales.
Spark Communications began as a flicker of an idea that grew into reality
because of the vision, dedication, commitment and focus of David Saxby. Today,
David does what he loves best because he wants to inspire others to be the
best at what they do.
His primary focus today is on:
• Delivering presentations that turn people on to Integrated Marketing
and Sales.
• Teaching sales people to love what they do and to do it with flare.
• Inspiring people to be exceptional presenters, and;
• Coaching entrepreneurs and executives to achieve excellence throughout

Harvey Duncan has a passion for the sales process and a life long fascination
with the secrets of selling success. With a BComm in marketing and psychology
he began his professional sales career with Xerox Canada, leading to international
corporate sales and management assignments in Computer Software and Internet
Systems.
Harvey is a Past-President and an 8-year executive of Pioneer SWAP in Australia,
an organization dedicated to building the skills and talents of sales and
marketing professionals.
In addition to his wealth of sales knowledge Harvey has a gift for inspiring
others and sharing the secrets learned through dozens of courses, key mentors
and real life experience. Harvey is now actively involved in personal performance
